About the Roleystone Club

As a registered non-profit organisation, the overall management of the Roleystone Club is the responsibility of a committee of elected volunteers from the local community. Members can nominate to join, and vote for, the committee prior to the AGM in July.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

SINCE 1972

The Roleystone Country Club was originally established in 1972, as a community meeting place for members and guests to enjoy entertainment, refreshments, functions, and sporting activities such as lawn bowls, darts & pool.

As a Not-for-Profit organisation managed by a generous committee of local volunteers, the club is an important fixture of the Roleystone community.

For 50 years the club has offered a variety of activities including Lawn Bowls, Darts and Pool, regular sessions from the local Musicians Club, and plenty of family friendly, social, and community-focussed activities. The club aims to foster connection and friendships, and help combat social isolation within the region.

TIMELINE

OUR HISTORY

1
Built around 1950, the buildings were part of a parcel of land around 7.9 acres. In 1960 the property was purchased by Joe and Sylvia Mason, who lived there for many years and may well have been the family who sold the property to the group of residents in late 1971.
2
Joe Mason started Lions in Australia and was a Lions International Representative from the 1960’s until he passed away in 2010. In 2009 he was awarded an Order of Australia for his service to Lions throughout Australia.
3
In late 1971 a group of interested residents of Roleystone floated the idea of establishing a club in Wygonda Road. The property was originally named ‘Magic Mountain’ and consisted of a large, spacious house and a caretaker cottage on 6 ½ acres of land, with beautiful views over the Araluen Valley.
4
The club was finally established in 1972 and has green titles ownership of the property. It was originally established as a community meeting place, giving members and guests access to entertainment, refreshments, functions, and sporting activities such as lawn bowls, darts, and pool.
5
The club continues to be the only fully licensed premises within the Roleystone area.
